Chord symbols are used to represent chords. The chord symbols of triads are shown on this page.
Major Triads
A letter represents a major chord:
Minor Triads
For minor chords, we add m (lower case), min or - :
Diminished Triads
For diminished triads, we add dim, o or m(b5) :
Augmented Triads
For augmented triads, we add aug, + or #5 :
Inversions
To indicate an inversion, we add a slash and specify the note to be played in the bass:
